Meetings

27-05-2013
  • Agreement that for the Internship I, as a model that need to be simulated, the flu spreading problem should be taken and modeled and simulated in the 3 different levels of abstraction by using different tools relevant for each domain. For the Internship II maybe the problem of car traffic will be used because of its increased complexity and popularity.
  • Conversation about how the structure of the report should be.
  • Report about the progress on the Research Internship I.

29-04-2013
  • Conversation about some of the papers i have read and specification of some of the most relevant authors and papers in the 3 different levels of abstraction.
  • Even more clear definition of the distinction and connection between the Research Internship I and II, the thesis is still blur and depends on the results of the previous two internships.
  • The problem of modelling and simulation of people actions and behavior during flu epidemic was mentioned as a field of research and problematic that can be used as a starting point for the multi-level abstraction.
  • Some tools for modelling and simulation were discussed (ex. Repast, AnyLogic)

22-04-2013
  • Informative meeting about the possibilities of the internships and master thesis and defining the outlines of the Research Internship I and II and the Master Thesis.
  • Defining the problem and the outlines of the Multi-Abstraction Modelling and Simulation problem.
  • 3 Levels of Multi-Abstraction:
    1. FSD (Forrester System Dynamics) - Population Dynamics
    2. Cellular Automata
    3. ABMS (Agent-Based Modelling and Simulation)
  • Introductory talk about the 3 above mentioned fields of science.
  • Specification of some relevant Scientific Papers and Books for every level of multi-abstraction.
